*WARNING- SPOILERS FOR....I DON'T KNOW MAYBE INTO THE WILD*
So, the first scene of the first book of the first series, the very thing that introduced a nation wide craze for, as my friend teasingly calls it, Warrior Kitties, was a prophecy. "Fire alone can save your clan." Only a day or two later, a kittypet with a flame colored coat is accepted and named Firepaw. Could Bluestar have forgotten the prophecy and the name be coincidence? VERY unlikely. More likely she was desperate to save her clan. In the name Firepaw, she wrapped her hopes and fears, just hoping that this was what the prophecy meant. She put her clan's fate in that name and Starclan showed her what was right. Starclan bless you, Bluestar. You, your clan, and the leaders to come.
Also, she says that never before has the clan had so few apprentices in training. With Firepaw, there were now four, but frequently afterward there were three, or two or even one apprentice(s) training. You lied to us...kinda! Sorry, that's just been bugging me.
Question of the Post: Was naming him Firepaw and voicing her hopes a smart idea on the part of Bluestar?
Spottedleaf actually told Bluestar the prophecy. She was next to Bluestar when she got it, though. And I think Bluestar didn't realize it until later. Amazing, her prophecy has fire in it, too..."Like fire, you will blaze through the forest." Could it be foreshadowing that she will become leader like Firestar?
ReplyDeleteIt definitely foreshadowed a great destiny for Bluestar. You bring up an interesting point, that both the prophecies had fire in them. It may have been Starclan's way when they said "Fire alone can save our clan" of telling her that Fire would be the next leader. I may just have to do a blog post on it...
